Costa Rica<\/h2>\n

Costa Rica, a Central American nation between the Pacific and Caribbean, is known for natural beauty, peace and resilience. Home to five million people, it gained independence from Spain in 1821.<\/p>\n

Predominantly Christian, it now faces environmental degradation despite rich biodiversity, and declining youth church engagement.<\/p>\n

The Bible Society seeks to unite youth and churches to address environmental and spiritual challenges.<\/p>\n

Many Costa Rican youth show a latent spiritual need and are increasingly motivated by social and environmental issues beyond traditional church settings. Guided by Genesis 1:26, the Bible Society Costa Rica seeks to mobilise churches and youth to care for creation. Through the Church Caring for Creation project, it will partner with 33 churches across denominations, engage over 1,000 young people, distribute 2,000 Scripture resources, develop ecological discipleship materials, and deliver 20 biblically based environmental workshops by 2027.<\/p>\n

The Scripture verse that inspires this project is Genesis 1:26 (NIV) \u2013 \u201cThen God said, \u201cLet us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n

This project enables the Bible Society to engage individuals with the word of God through diverse strategies and into communities where we have not previously been able to make an impact.<\/p>\n
