The People Behind The Mission

A dedicated team and board serving the vision of lifting the Bible up across New Zealand and beyond.

Our Board

Board Of Trustees

Our Trustees bring governance, ministry and professional expertise from across Aotearoa, united by a shared conviction that the Bible is for everyone.

David McLay

Chair

A barrister specialising in tax, trusts and charities with almost 40 years of legal experience, David has served in governance for local and regional church bodies and a number of charities. He has been involved with the Bible Society since 2010 and lives in Taitā, Lower Hutt, with his wife Robyn.

Bishop Kito (Te Kitohi Pikaahu)

Trustee

Bishop of Tai Tokerau since 2002, Bishop Kito began ministry in 1986 in the Auckland Anglican Māori Mission. At the heart of his ministry is the proclamation of the gospel message in the Bible. He lives in the Bay of Islands.

Dr Penelope “Nep” Roberts

Trustee

Manager of Ministries to Young People for the Catholic Diocese of Auckland, Samuel has over 15 years of experience in youth ministry and a passion for equipping young people to encounter God through the Bible. He holds a Bachelor of Theology and Bachelor of Law from the University of Auckland.

Robert Hagan-Pratt

Trustee

Chairperson of Trinity Union Parish Newtown and Chair of the Property Committee, Robert brings a long electronics and infrastructure engineering career. He has overseen the sale of the Wellington property and helped establish the Group Office and warehouse in Wiri, Auckland.

Dr Eddie Tupa’i

Trustee

Lead Pastor and President of the New Zealand Pacific Union Conference, Eddie is passionate about effective leadership in healthy churches. His D.Min. examines the ‘Healthy Adventist Churches’ initiative he led, and he continues to pastor a local church alongside his union role.

Samuel Brebner

Trustee

Manager of Ministries to Young People for the Catholic Diocese of Auckland, Samuel has over 15 years of experience in youth ministry and a passion for equipping young people to encounter God through the Bible. He holds a Bachelor of Theology and Bachelor of Law from the University of Auckland.

Amanda Fookes

Trustee

A specialist in the creative and marketing industries, Amanda led the design team at NZ Post and headed the Creative and Brand team at Wellington City Council. She serves on the eldership at Northern Hills Church in Tawa, where she also leads the Children’s Ministry.

Neels firmly believes that the Bible is for everyone and that every life that encounters God through His Word will be transformed for the better and for good. He has been with Bible Society New Zealand for 13 years and has led as CEO for the past 7. He holds a BMin and Lth in theology and an EMBA in business, and has spent 34 years leading businesses and pastoring churches.
