Supporting You In Ministry

Book A Speaker

Invite a Bible Society speaker to your church service or mid-week event. We’ll encourage and inspire your congregation with real-life stories of how the Bible is changing lives, here in New Zealand and around the world.

Making A Difference

Why Book A Speaker?

We have been part of the mission of helping make the Bible accessible to everyone since 1846, and our speakers will encourage you and your congregation with real-life stories and examples of how the Bible is changing lives around the world.

We will share about our work throughout Aotearoa and also our global missions, to help encourage and inspire your congregation to engage with the Bible in their daily walk with Christ.

You can invite a speaker to your church service or a mid-week event, and we can do a Mission Talk, a sermon, or a combination of both.

Into The Stories We’ll Share

Did you know that, on average, there are over one million new Christians in China each year?

With 60% of Christians in China living in poor, rural areas, unfortunately many of them can’t afford to buy their own Bible. Can you partner with us to bring urgently needed Bibles to believers in China? These Bibles are given away either for free or at subsidised prices to poor Christians, especially in rural areas where around half of Christians do not own a Bible.

Q&A

Your Questions, Answered

Is there a minimum number of people required to request a speaker?

For every request we have to weigh up several factors; audience size is one of them. If you have flexibility with your date, we may be able to accommodate your request when travelling on regional visits.

What is required of me if I book a speaker?

This depends on the type of event. For a regular church service, we simply require you to meet with us 30 minutes before to pray and run through any technical requirements (a data projector is appreciated). We can provide a PowerPoint slide to advertise in your church notices beforehand. For a community event, we can provide posters and flyers. We are happy to support you any way we can to make the event a success.

Can I specify the theme or topic of the talk?

Yes — we are happy to tailor a message to fit with a series or theme. We also have prepared some excellent messages that we can adapt to your specific context.

Will it cost anything to have a speaker travel to my church, organisation or group?

The short answer is no — however, the Bible Society Group is a charity and depends upon the faithful giving of our supporters. If you would like to make a gift to help cover accommodation or travel costs, this keeps our costs to a minimum. This would be a donation to the Bible Society Group, who will send you a tax rebate receipt.

Our church supports missions in a certain country. Will sharing about your mission include this country?

As far as possible, we try to tailor our speaking to the need of the church, organisation or group we are presenting to. Just let us know the country you would like us to include and we can make sure to include it in our Mission programme where possible, as well as give insight on our wider mission.

Are your speakers theologically trained?

We are blessed to have a number of speakers who are theologically trained and who also assist others in developing a message. Our focus is to keep it Bible-focused and ensure that our message speaks to the transformative power thereof.

Do we need to provide an honorarium to the speaker?

No — however, you can make a donation to Bible Society New Zealand Group to minimise our costs, or make a pledge as a church to support our work yearly or monthly through our Bible a Month Regular Giving programme or a gift to our general mission.

Are your speakers Christians?

Yes, and unashamedly so. All our speakers are active members of their own churches. Every one of our speakers has a deep faith and love of Jesus, and everything we do at Bible Society New Zealand Group we see as an expression of our faith to walk out our mission.
