Around the world, millions of children are facing daily hardships that affect every part of their lives. Nearly 412 million children live in extreme poverty—surviving on less than $3 a day they lack access to adequate food, healthcare, education, and protection.
At the same time, around 450 million children are growing up in conflict zones where displacement, instability, and trauma are part of everyday life.
This month, we’re highlighting the work of the Bible Societies of Ghana, Kenya, and Nicaragua, who are bringing God’s Word to impoverished and suffering children.

Putting God’s Word into the Hands of Children in Ghana
In Ghana, even though more than 70 per cent of the population identify as Christian, many children are growing up without access to the Bible. The Bible Society of Ghana is helping to change this by placing Bibles into the hands of primary school children aged six to fourteen—and it is already making a visible difference.
Adom’s story shows this impact. His eyes lit up when he spotted Bibles on his teacher’s desk. When he learned that each child would get a Bible, he was overjoyed. “I will take good care of the Bible I received today,” he said proudly. “It is very precious to me, and the stories inside it are also precious. I have heard many stories in church, and I was told that all these stories come from the Bible.” With his first Bible, Adom felt proud and grateful. He knew he could learn more about God and share His Word with others.
