YOUR MONTHLY MEMBER'S REPORT DECEMBER 2025
New Zealand
At the edge of the Pacific, New Zealand is a land of striking beauty and deep cultural diversity. From Māori voyagers to European settlers and more recent migrants, our national identity has been shaped by exploration, resilience, and faith. Since signing the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840, New Zealand has evolved into a vibrant nation rich in heritage, innovation, and freedom. Yet, like many countries today, it faces growing social division, rising costs, and a hunger for hope and meaning.
Once a society where Christian faith strongly influenced public life, New Zealand is now one of the most secular nations in the world. Many churches are experiencing decline, and younger generations are becoming increasingly unfamiliar with the Bible. Yet amid change, a faithful community continues to live out Christ’s call to be salt and light, serving, caring, and sharing God’s love in every corner of Aotearoa.
The Bible Society New Zealand stands as a beacon of hope in this changing landscape. Its mission is to share the life-giving Word of God with every generation.
- Translating, publishing, and distributing the Scriptures in print, digital, visual, and audio formats.
- Encouraging people to engage deeply with God’s Word.
- Advocating for the Bible’s message as a foundation for hope, identity, and community.
- Partnering with churches and Christian organisations across the nation.
Despite growing secularism, the Bible Society continues to expand its reach, developing new resources, fostering unity across denominations, and ensuring that God’s Word remains a source of comfort, courage, and renewal for New Zealand and beyond.
