Lebanon
“Whenever life upsets me, I remember love, forgiveness, and faith.”
These words were shared by Tima (name changed), a 12‑year‑old girl from a Syrian refugee family in Lebanon, after attending the Bible Society of Lebanon’s Summer Children Program. Through an interactive drama about the prophet Elijah, who believed God had abandoned him, only to discover God was always present, Tima was reminded that she is never alone.
Born and raised in a Syrian refugee family, Tima, like many children around her, has grown up surrounded by the effects of war, loss, and uncertainty. In such an environment, anger, despair, and fear can easily take root, dictating your life. The gentle reminder of God’s love, forgiveness, and faith offered through the program has become a lasting source of comfort and hope for her.
Lebanon is home to around 1.3 million Syrian refugees like Tima’s family, many of whom face extreme poverty and limited access to basic services. In response, the Bible Society of Lebanon partners with local churches and humanitarian agencies to establish the “Reconcile!” program. The program aims to provide spiritual care and trauma healing for refugee children through drama performances, presentations on biblical stories, and the distribution of Bibles. The Biblical drama will help children understand forgiveness and reconciliation amid the ongoing turmoil. The project aims to reach 5,500 refugee children and distribute 1,000 Arabic Bibles to camp leaders across Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and northern Lebanon.

Pray for children growing up in unsafe and unacceptable conditions, that they may experience protection, healing, and hope.

Pray for wisdom, strength, and encouragement for those leading this program, and that they may be equipped and inspired as they receive and use the Arabic Peace & Justice Bible.

FURTHER BIBLE MISSION PROJECTS
Tonga
Tonga is a Pacific nation where Christianity plays a central role in daily life, with most of the population identifying as Christian. The Bible is widely read and deeply respected; in response to this growth, the South Pacific Bible Society is working to translate the Tongan Bible into contemporary language and later distribute it in printed and digital formats.
The project aims to strengthen faith, deepen biblical understanding, and support churches in their mission and ministry. Ongoing prayer and support are essential as this important work continues, helping to equip present and future generations in Tonga with Scripture they can easily read, understand, and live out.
Sri Lanka
In Sri Lanka, low literacy rates remain an ongoing challenge, particularly for children, including those within the Christian community, limiting access to education and understanding of Scripture.
The Literacy Project supports children and youth aged 8 to 16 in the Western, Southern, and Central Provinces, with a focus on underserved rural communities. The project aims to develop reading, writing, comprehension, and communication skills in Sinhala and Tamil, while fostering deeper engagement with the Bible and confidence in sharing Scripture in their own language. In 2026, the program seeks to reach 1,500 children, equipping them with essential literacy skills, renewed confidence, expanded educational opportunities, and guidance in their faith journey.
Guatemala
Guatemala faces a growing crisis affecting girls and adolescents, with some of the highest rates of child abuse and teenage pregnancy in the region. Many girls become mothers between the ages of 10 and 19, losing access to education, healthcare, and protection, and experiencing deep emotional and psychological trauma.
The “Children Having Children” project aims to bring spiritual, emotional, and psychological healing to young mothers as they face their new reality. Each year, the project supports healing groups for 100 girls, equips local churches to provide ongoing care, and train 10 young mothers to support their children. Prayers are needed for healing, restored hope, and strong community support for these young mothers and their children.
Haiti
Like many parents in New Zealand, Haitian parents also long to bring the joy and the real message of Christmas to their Children. On the other hand, there is a high demand in Haiti for Children’s Ministry resources. Therefore, the Haitian Bible Society launched the “A lighting Christmas for Haitian Children” project.
This project aims to bring back the joy of Christmas and deliver its true meaning by distributing Family Bible – 100 Steps in French and Creole, alongside toys, to help them experience love and learn about Jesus at a young age. Pray that these distributions continue to bring joy and a deeper understanding of God’s love to children and families across Haiti.

Becoming Like Jesus
The Christian life is not up and to the right but a lifelong series of highs and lows that the Holy Spirit uses to shape us into people who look like Jesus. In this six-session series, pastor and author Matt Chandler guides us through Jesus’s beatitudes found in Matthew 5. As we live out our Christian faith, Jesus develops in us a new way of living so we can be people who reflect God’s kingdom.
